Nonprofit tax exemption (U.S.)
Many churches, nonprofits, and community centers with 501(c)(3) status can buy software without sales tax in their state, but they must provide a valid exemption certificate.
Taxes may be calculated at checkout based on your billing address. Tax-exempt organizations should send us a valid certificate; we review it and apply the exemption to your billing account when appropriate.
Step 1 — Before paying (recommended): go to Settings → Plan and billing and open “Request exemption via ticket”, or email support@gima-solutions.com with category Billing.
Step 2 — Documents to send (clear PDF or image): IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter or equivalent; state sales tax exemption certificate for the billing state (signed state form); legal organization name, EIN, and billing address; primary state of operations. Send them by replying to the ticket confirmation email (you can attach files there).
Step 3 — At checkout: enter the organization’s real billing address (not a personal address for an institutional purchase). If offered, add your EIN in the tax ID field. Complete payment; if we do not have your certificate yet, tax may be charged on the first cycle.
Step 4 — Review: we confirm the certificate matches the billing state and is current. We will notify you via the ticket when the exemption is applied to your account.
Step 5 — Future charges: monthly or annual renewals should not include sales tax in that state. If the first payment included tax before approval, note it in your ticket; we may issue a partial credit or refund when appropriate.
Important: exemptions are usually state-specific. If you bill from another state or move, send an updated certificate. Some states require periodic renewal.
Does not apply to: organizations without exempt status; personal card purchases without an institutional certificate; tax outside the U.S. (contact support if you bill from another country).
Subscription management: administrators can update card and address via “Manage subscription in Stripe” from Settings.
